Caiden "Caid" Voros, also known as Caiden of Redfield, is a member of the Venatori. He is known for his strong sense of loyalty and justice, and his unfaltering dedication to protecting others.

Biography

Born in the Achaean city of Redfield to a small family of commoners, Caiden started working to help his parents as soon as he was physically able. His father was a member of the Red Legion of Lake Demon, and Caiden soon followed in his father's footsteps. However, Caiden fell out of favor with his superiors after he directly disobeyed his orders, choosing to protect innocents over pursuing the legion's enemies. He was discharged from the legion soon thereafter, and he returned to Redfield to become a respected and valued member of the city watch.

After a few years spent as a watchman, however, Caiden soon ran into more trouble. His beloved little sister, Plexaura Voros, turned out to be a mage. While Caiden did not hate her for it, as she had feared, Plexaura revealed that she had discovered a sect of the Hidden within the city. Although Caiden and his men rushed to stop them, the Hidden completed a ritual to raise an army of undead and attack the city. Following much hardship and chaos, Caiden and Plexaura managed to survive, and the city was restored to order. Caiden, however, lost his left eye in an ensuing battle against Albertus Lysander, son of Redfield's late duke and traitor to the city, whom Plexaura sensed was Gifted as well.

Once the ordeal was over, Caiden and Plexaura left Redfield. Plexaura chose to hide in plain sight and join the Inquisition, becoming a channeler. Caiden, though he debated which Imperial order to join, decided it too risky to become an Inquisitor alongside his little sister, as he did not want to potentially compromise her cover in any way. He eventually found that the Venatori best suited his methods and ideals, and he soon became partnered with Gwenevere Vergil. He has been a Venator for some time now, always striving to do what is right and to protect others.

Description

Caiden is a very intimidating individual who looks like he could easily wrestle a bear. He has incredibly broad shoulders and thick, muscle-bound arms that match his strong physique. But his build is nonetheless attractive, being athletic and toned, and he does not resemble a burly brute or thug. Caiden's chiseled face is classically handsome, with high cheekbones, strong features, and dark eyebrows, accompanied by his short-cropped, rather spiky dark brown hair and a mild stubble on his face. His right eye is deep blue, but his left is always covered by a black leather eye-patch.

Armor and Weapons

Being a Venator, Caiden generally wears relatively light armor in order to better sneak and trap the monsters he hunts. He wears a chain shirt made of deepsilver underneath a suit of form-fitting leather armor, all short-sleeved to allow for more freedom of movement. Caiden often wears his dark blue Venator cloak, or else a simple dark blue sash, bound with his silver Venator brooch to mark his allegiance to the order. His weapons include a steel broadsword, a silver dagger, a crossbow, and a quiver of bolts - both steel and silver - that he carries on his belt. He also keeps himself well-supplied with various potions to use while hunting monsters, which could be considered weapons on their own.

Personality

Strong-willed, steadfast, and maybe even a little single-minded, Caiden is a man who truly believes in doing what is right. He always tries to put others before himself and do everything in his power to protect any innocent lives. Although a Venator, Caiden does not view the order as simple 'monster hunters,' but instead guardians of those who cannot protect themselves. He frequently tries to find a peaceful solution to monster problems, though the monster rarely cooperates, and he is a successful and deadly monster hunter when things turn violent. Caiden is a very good-hearted person, and he is friendly and easygoing most of the time, showing great loyalty to those close to him. On the job, however, Caiden is nothing but professional, not allowing anything to distract him from his goals... even if he's learning more and more just how disturbing it can be when the lines of morality, of man versus monster, become blurred.

Appearances

Caiden first appeared in the short story Hunted, and he will be featured in future short stories and story installments that will be available on the official Wulfgard site. Caiden is also an important character later in The Prophecy of the Six.
