Zacynthos "Zac" Arcadian is a scribe in King Rikard's castle in Artorius, who has the misfortune of finding one of the few ancient, lost soulstones of Mage-Emperor Ildrius.

Born in Arcadia, Zac generally tries to keep details about his life to himself. Despite this, the fact that he is Arcadian isn't something he could hide, and word quickly spread of where he came from, resulting in many odd looks and whispers about rumors of the rituals Arcadians do. Zac, however, insists those things aren't important. His family sent him to Artorius to find good work and have him see the world abroad, but he's ended up spending most of his time now in rooms under the castle, copying various books, scrolls, and other written works. At some point, however, Zac clearly received an excellent education, and his ability to read and write in multiple languages - including Common Imperial, High Imperial, Old Achaean, and more - has made him virtually irreplaceable in his own right... even if it is such a boring, tedious, and shut-in job.

Zac is very tall and lanky, but nonetheless strikingly attractive, with uniquely dashing features and a big, bright smile that would turn any girl's head. He has light brown eyes, dark brows, sideburns, and a clean-shaven face, though his dark brown hair is not always kept very tidy; generally, it's a bit of a mess, just long enough to be slightly curly, though not so long as to hang over his neck.

Put simply, Zac is very likely to be the nicest guy you'll ever meet. He cares about everyone, even people he doesn't know, and he will go out of his way to help anyone or anything in need. He often comes across as a bit nervous and sometimes bumbling, but he is highly intelligent and observant. Zac is never out to upset anyone or get in anyone's way, and he is always ready to offer a helping hand. Although he doesn't have many friends (the few people close to him mean the world to him), he does his best to never let life knock him down... Or, at least, he is good at not letting it show and remaining cheerful for those who need him.

Zac is the protagonist of Echoes of the Mage-Emperor, a periodically updated, chapter-based story available online for free.
